Nations Who Once Inhabited Pennsylvania and the Neighboring States
Heckewelder was a Moravian missionary to the Indians on the Susquehanna
River; he subsequently aided in their removal to Ohio and Canada.
In this classic work he presents a full account of all aspects of
their culture. His writings were widely read and are said to have
provided much of the background for James Fennimore
Cooper’s “Leatherstocking Tales”. This reprint
includes the 1819 edition of Heckewelder’s work as it was
Reissued in 1876 with a new introduction and notes as Volume XII
of the “Memoirs Of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

History of Phillip's War
Commonly Called the Great Indian War of 1675 and 1676
This is a reprint of a classic volume that gives a vivid account
of the earliest of the Indian wars, and includes other years during
the French and Indian Wars. It was written by Thomas Church, Esq.
(1673-1748) based on the accounts and papers of his father, Col.
Benjamin Church (1639-1717), who was one of the principals involved
in the struggles. This work first appeared in 1716, reprinted in
1772 and again in 1827. The current reprint is based on the 1827
edition, which came from the 1772 edition, but had been greatly
enlarged by the addition of extensive notes and appendices. Included
are many extracts from contemporary documents, and notes on the
people and places involved.
